Housing Support Worker, Berryfields

Salary: Full time salary £24,326 (Actual Salary is £19,460.80, 30 hours)

As a Support Worker at our acquired brain injury supported housing scheme, your typical day would start with a handover from one of our support colleagues before you undertake a welfare check in with a customer who you are supporting. We want to support customers to thrive so updating their recovery plan is a key task. You would need to complete checks of customers flats/rooms to ensure there are no repairs, health and safety concerns or fire risks and then start planning a customer group activity on independent life skills.

Please note this role does not include providing personal care.

As Support Worker, you’ll be the face of Peabody and no one day is the same. You’ll be at the heart of your Peabody community, playing a crucial role supporting the practical needs and wellbeing of residents. With a particular focus on promoting their recovery and independent life skills. You’ll support residents to maximise their income, to access benefits and to budget to cover domestic bills and living expenses. You’ll actively work with residents in a person centred, recovery focused and trauma informed way.

You’re a people person who is caring and compassionate. You’ll have experience of working collaboratively to support and promote recovery to meet the varying needs of our customer group. You’ll need to be able to work shifts at the supported housing scheme, 30 hours per week, including some weekends and bank holidays.

Your role covers all aspects of housing management – everything from scheme and property inspections to identifying issues and capturing feedback to continuously improve our services and resident satisfaction. If you’re knowledgeable about best practices in supporting customers with have acquired a brain injury and like us committed to helping people flourish we want to hear from you.

To be a successful in this role, you’re:

  • Knowledgeable about how to support customers manage their tenancy/accommodation and can promote recovery and independence.
  • Able to demonstrate the right Peabody valves and empathy to work with a vulnerable client group.
  • Able to work shifts on a rota across 7 days including some bank holidays.
  • Skilled in collaborative work to aid and advance recovery of our diverse customer group.

This role will require an Enhanced DBS check.
