Peabody and The Hill Group came together to donate £4,000 in supermarket support and £1,300 worth of toys to local charity Dagenham United.

The charity works with local schools to identify families who may need additional support, providing supermarket cards topped up with money, so parents can purchase the food and essential items they need.

The toys will be distributed to pupils who might otherwise miss out during the festive season.

Peter Chand, Director of Dagenham United, said: “Winter can bring extra costs for lots of families, so any help - big or small - can make a real difference. This support will give parents a bit more breathing room and help children enjoy the festive season without added worry.”

The donation forms part of Peabody and Hill’s ongoing work with local partners to make sure the benefits of the redevelopment of the former Ford stamping plant site at Dagenham Green reach people living nearby. The 935 home Phase one - of which 35% are affordable - is currently well underway, with the first homes set to welcome residents later this month.
