The First Time Buyer Readers’ Awards are some of the most acclaimed in the industry and recognise outstanding achievements in helping aspirational buyers on to the housing ladder.

Catalyst, a subsidiary of the Peabody Group, won the ‘Best New Development in the South’ category for Newman Place, their flagship 100 per cent affordable development of 270 homes just south of Oxford.

Newman Place comprises 162 homes for shared ownership and 108 for social rent, including family-sized homes and wheelchair-accessible homes, that are enabling hundreds of first-time buyers get on to the property ladder and helping local people stay in the area in one of the least affordable places to live outside London.

Designed to respect and reflect the site’s heritage, biodiversity and natural landscape, Newman Place bridges the gap between the site’s notable history and creates a vibrant new community just a few miles from the economic and cultural hub of Oxford.

The development combines sustainable, tenure-blind homes with contemporary design and considered landscaping that’s sympathetic to the historic surroundings at Littlemore.

Located on the site of the former Littlemore Park hospital, which dates back to 1846, Catalyst’s design recognises the particular importance of ensuring Newman Place complements its historic surroundings.

Peabody also won ‘Best First Time Buyer Apartment’ for its Arden at Parkside development in Lewisham.
