Peabody and partners celebrate affordable homes milestone with topping out ceremony

58 brand new affordable homes in Stoke Hammond, Buckinghamshire, are another step closer to completion.

Housing association Peabody and its partners The Hill Group, who are building the 100% affordable homes, held a recent topping out ceremony that was attended by Cllr David Venn, Cllr Greg Noble and Parish Clerk Kelly Harris, and representatives from Peabody and Hill.

Located in the historic village of Stoke Hammond, three miles south of Milton Keynes in north Buckinghamshire, the Honeybrooke development will include 43 houses and 15 apartments. 34 will be for affordable rent and 24 for shared ownership. The homes will be built on land purchased by Peabody - formerly Catalyst - in 2017 and are expected to be complete by early next year.

The new homes will be served by a strong selection of local amenities - great places to eat, country parks and outdoor activities - as well as schools.

Just a 15-minute drive from Milton Keynes City Centre, Honeybrooke will provide future residents with the perfect blend of countryside tranquillity and vibrant city living. Stoke Hammond is minutes from beautiful rolling countryside, boasting a plethora of green spaces including the Grand Union Canal. The new homes will be conveniently located near major road networks, including the A5 and M1, and there are direct trains to London and Birmingham available from nearby Bletchley Train Station.

All homes at Honeybrooke will be built with thicker walls to reduce heat loss and keep fuel bills to a minimum for residents. They will also be gas free, with air source heat pumps and solar panels.

Elena Brodetsky, Delivery Director at Peabody, said: “We had a fantastic day celebrating this significant achievement with our partners, Hill.

“With demand for rural affordable homes now 10 times higher than towns and cities, Honeybrooke will offer much-needed homes in a sought-after area with great connections and beautiful green spaces.

“Building homes that are energy efficient and more environmentally friendly in the long-term are key priorities for both Peabody and Hill. We're expecting the first of these low-energy affordable homes to be available from early next year, and we're looking forward to welcoming new residents to the neighbourhood.”

Simon Trice, Managing Director at The Hill Group, said: “We are delighted to be working with our partners Peabody to provide much-needed affordable housing in Stoke Hammond and are pleased to reach this key milestone of the Honeybrooke project. Both organisations are committed to supporting those in need of affordable housing with high quality, energy efficient homes and we look forward to completing the delivery of these sustainable new homes to help transform the lives of current and future generations.”

Councillor David Venn at Stoke Hammond Parish Council, said: “We congratulate Peabody and Hill as they celebrate a new milestone at Honeybrooke, and were delighted to attend the ceremony.

“This development will provide excellent quality homes at affordable prices, so that local people can get on the property ladder.

“New residents can expect well-insulated, efficient homes that are cheaper to run and sustainable in a fantastic location.”
