Our Southmere development in South Thamesmead was a winner at the recent 2022 WhatHouse? Awards, taking home the silver award for Best Starter Home scheme.

Winning an award at this years' prestigious ceremony is an another achievement for Peabody and showcases the quality of our homes at Southmere while setting us apart from other new home builders. Southmere has now won multiple awards since the first phase was completed last year, so it's great to see that the development continues to be recognised among the industry's best.

The award is for homes in the first phase of our seven-phase masterplan for South Thamesmead. Due to complete by the end of this year, phase one – which fronts on to Southmere Lake – provides 534 new homes (of which 55% are affordable) along with a new public square, state-of-the-art library and community building, commercial space for shops, services and cafes, and outstanding public realm.

Construction of the second phase of development is due to begin in 2023, subject to planning approval from Bexley Council. This phase will provide 329 new homes of which 42% will be affordable.
