Sadly, many people face homelessness and housing problems today.

That’s why we provide specialist homes and support for people who are going through a difficult time - whether they’re experiencing homelessness, substance misuse, isolation, or mental ill health.

We aim to help people get back on their feet for the long term by putting a roof over their heads and helping them take control of their lives.

Here at Peabody, we have an opportunity for a Caretaker on a Permanent basis for two of our supported housing schemes in Colchester.

These schemes ae known as, Friars Court and Sagewood Place and are 5 minutes apart from one another by car.

In total there are 34 flats to maintain that house adults, couples but the majority of our residents are families.

What we’re looking for:

  • Do you have a UK driver's licence and have access to a vehicle?

  • Do you have general DIY knowledge and maintenance experience?

  • Are you proficient in basic IT skills?

A bit about the role:

As a Caretaker, you will provide light maintenance, cleaning, and gardening, so you will be well organised, and detail orientated.

You will need good communication and interpersonal skills because you will need to interact with a wide range of people.

Some of the key results for the role include:

  • Undertaking minor communal repairs.

  • Checking and monitoring the quality of contracted services such as window cleaning, gardening, and cleaning.

  • Completing health and safety checks, complying with regulations.
  • Engaging with our residents and building a positive present within each scheme.

  • Be reliable and punctual.

  • Be able to work independently.

This role will require an Enhanced DBS check, a UK driver’s licence and access to a vehicle.
