Festive food deliveries for Essex locals

Paula, An Outreach Support Worker, With A Festive Hamper

Our Essex Outreach team has delivered over 75 food hampers to people across the county, spreading joy during the festive period.

Published: 20/12/2023

The hampers were given to people receiving support through our outreach service, who needed a bit of extra joy this Christmas. Each one contained a variety of sweet and savoury treats, such as chocolates, pickles, cream crackers, Christmas puddings and crisps.

We hand-delivered the boxes to people living in towns across Essex, including: Basildon, Chelmsford, Brentwood, Epping, Rochford, Rayleigh, Castle Point, Colchester, Maldon, Braintree, Harlow and Tendring. They were funded by our Outreach Customer Involvement Fund.

Laura Kemsley, Essex Outreach Manager, commented: “This year we’ve had a record number of referrals for our outreach support service, so we know that many people can’t afford to buy essential items, let alone treat themselves this Christmas. In its ninth year running, this hamper project is more important than ever, as it gives people a reason to feel positive.”

The customer feedback shows how essential this initiative has been: “I am moving into my new home tomorrow. Thank you so much, this will be lovely for Christmas.”

“The treats were a wonderful surprise! I’ll take them to my family get together on Boxing day.”

“This has melted my heart. We’re gonna have a munch fest. Thank you.”
